Snow in February

The weather has been all over the place these last few days.  Two days ago it was in the sixties, yesterday it was snowing, and today is a blusterous 24 degrees. Sadly the snow did not stick, but it was an ever so lovely surprise to wake up to.  After living in Florida for five months, it has been hard getting used to the bipolar weather of North Carolina.  It is also hard to go from having an amazing theme park in your backyard to attending classes everyday. Working for Disney certainly spoiled me, and it is taking a lot of self control to not drop out of school and ask for my job back. Though I'm pretty sure if I went back before finishing school, I would end up staying there forever (which honestly doesn't sound half bad).

Valentine's Day

I had the perfect Valentine's Day listening to the Greensboro Big Band and watching couples who have been together for 40+ years dance the Foxtrot, the Jitterbug, and the West Coast Swing. To see couples that have been together that long, that still love each other, and can still get out on the dance floor was really refreshing. I don't know what everyone's deal is with Valentine's Day, it's a day centered around celebrating romance, love, and chocolate. What's not to love about February 14th?

Summer could not come soon enough!

Life has been really busy with school since I made the smart decision to enroll in 8 classes this semester (yowza!) Luckily all that is left are my final exams and then I will be done for summer vacation! The arrival of summer means my departure from Greensboro, I'm actually excited to move home, I'm not one to complain that my parents live at the beach. But the really exciting news is that next semester, Fall 2012, I'm leaving for Disney World to participate in the Disney college program and I couldn't be anymore ecstatic! Yeah, so I have a ton of things to look forward to and life couldn't be better! Till next time!

Waiting on the rain

Alas, more indoor photos.  But at least this time I have a real excuse, the rain.  Greensboro was lambasted by storm clouds for the better part of today.  But I was not too upset over it, there is something chic about adding an umbrella to an ensemble.  Today's outfit was inspired by the glamorous and voluptuous Joan Holloway (Christina Hendricks) from Mad Men.  If I could pick any wardrobe,it would have to be hers.   There is something about the style of the 1960s that I just love.  From the cinched in waists, full skirts, glittering jewels, to even the over the top hairstyles.

These Mad Men Barbie dolls are adorable.  Check out this blog to see more shots of different characters. Hope everyone has found a nice place to dry off from this overcast, damp Wednesday!

Cold Front

Today was wonderful, I think fall is finally making its way to Greensboro.  I love everything about chilly weather fashion from the tights, boots, scarfs, jackets, sweaters, gloves, ah the options are endless!  Anyway, this outfit is kind of like a mullet: business on the top and party on the bottom, they are teal shorts after-all. My sister picked out the lovely cameo pin and earrings set at an estate sale for me.  I'm always wondering who the girl is modeled after. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend! Happy Friday!

Corduroy & Florals

So it's the beginning of the week and instead of getting off to a good start by studying for my exam on Wednesday, I've been watching a show nonstop on Netflix...oops.  Anyways here is another piece of my apartment.  Are these chairs the most amazing thing or what? I saw them at a consignment store and knew they had to be mine...but they were a little out of my price range.  So I went back with my sister about a month later and she was able to hackle the owner down another $20.

So I would really like to start taking pictures outside, but I feel so awkward with my tripod because of my neighbors.  Maybe I need to make a friend with a talent for picture-taking. Because mine is below par anyways.  Also look at the elephant shoes!

A peek in the new kitchen

This weeks outfit post takes place in my kitchen, which is the place where I store my Nutella.  I'll be sharing more of my new home later on.  I think I'm finally getting into a steady routine, I have my classes, I joined a sewing/design organization, I'm meeting new people, and I'm even going to the gym.  Hello Zumba (aka my new favorite way to work off all the Nutella I consume).

Summer Blues

The scallop shorts that I've seen floating around this summer are adorable! After seeing a photo of Leighton Meester in a pair, I immediately searched my vintage shorts patterns and made some.  Adding the scallops was a bit tricky, but I think they turned out quite swell for a first attempt.  I can't wait to make another pair, maybe with bigger scallops or in a funky pattern.

Bradford in Bloom

This outfit post is especially special as my sewing machine and I have been reunited.  The dress I'm wearing was just a pile of fabric yesterday until my crafty hands got a hold of them.  It is unbelievably rewarding to make your own clothes, it's like making dinner from scratch, only instead of my stomach expanding...my wardrobe is.  All this excitement is coming from the fact that it has been months since I've made anything, hopefully my inspiration is back and I will be spending more time with a needle and thread.

Also we have been experiencing lovely weather and all the flowers and trees are in bloom.  I love spring, it's perfect for spending the afternoon in a hammock with a glass of sweet tea!

Pale Friday

It's actually warm enough to have bare legs, even if it is only for a specific time during the day.  Spring must be on its way, and I am ready for warmer weather.  I have been taking every opportunity to soak up the sun on my back deck, as you can see my legs are super pale. But that's what I get for being born a freckly red head...I just need to embrace the pale.
