Red, white, and blue equals America.

So my 4th of July was spent in typical American-style with my parents, my two sisters and their boyfriends, my sister's friend, a Belarusian, friends from where I used to live, and finally lots of delicious food.  It's been busy and crowded but really delightful.  I hope everyone else had an explosive 4th of July, and managed to keep the firework injuries to a minimum.  Go America!
 

And on a side note...I made the top I'm wearing and the polka-dot dress my sister is sporting.

Summer Blues

The scallop shorts that I've seen floating around this summer are adorable! After seeing a photo of Leighton Meester in a pair, I immediately searched my vintage shorts patterns and made some.  Adding the scallops was a bit tricky, but I think they turned out quite swell for a first attempt.  I can't wait to make another pair, maybe with bigger scallops or in a funky pattern.

Gotta Have My Pops

Happy Father's Day and Happy Birthday (tomorrow) to my dear, darling father. You are everything I could have ever wanted in a dad and then some.  You taught me to always be myself, and while I can not be more excited to finally move out of the house, I'm going to miss your songs and laughter. 

You are truly one of a kind, and I love you for that.

Life at its Best

• April consisted of my big 21st Birthday, though sadly I was too ill to enjoy it.  And I was cast in the community theater's "Broadway At Its Best" 
• May revolved around finishing up my last semester of community college, getting everything ready to attend UNCG in the fall, and rehearsals.
• June is still going on, but the beginning consisted of the show going up.  I have also been splitting my time between relaxing on the beach and sewing up a storm in the craft room.
