With New Years Eve tomorrow, I've got a couple of resolutions on the mind.  I was very proud of myself because last year I completely gave up eating meat (with the exception of seafood) and I managed to stick to it and will continue to do so this year.  Here is a list of my resolutions for 2011:
  • But all local produce and seafood
  • Sew more often
  • Befriend my treadmill again
  • Stop eating junk food & cook/bake for myself&others
  • Lose myself in books
  • Get organized
  • Have more adventures
  • Become magical
So that's the start of them, I will probably be updating and adding to them, but for now I'll keep 'em short and sweet.  Boy, 2010 went by really fast, I can hardly believe Christmas is over and I'll soon be starting my final Spring semester at CCC.  Overall 2010 has been really good to me.  I took three big trips to England, Florida and California, and some little road trips visiting friends at college.  I figured out where I want to transfer (now if I could just make the time to apply).  Made some truly exceptional new friends.  And I even got a lead role in The Sound of Music which will go up in January.  While I'm excited for the new year, I also don't like the feeling that my life is passing me by.  Some days I just want to use a Time Turner and go back and enjoy certain moments of my life again.

See you in the New Year!
xoxo

Dandy bowtie.

I love the masculine fashion that has been slowly making its way on to more feminine silhouettes.  I decided to try my had at it today by adding a bow tie to my outfit.  I was inspired by the lovely and talented Janelle Monae.  I find her look refreshing and her jazzy hip hop music delightful.  I am looking forward to the Christmas break so much! I have one more exam and then I'm free, well free till the new year.

One of my favorite Christmas ornaments from childhood.

Christmas Can Cure Anything.

My Life in a [Chest]nut Shell:
12 Dozen cookies
11 Hundred light bulbs
10 Plus 10 days till Christmas
9 Hours of studying
8 Days of classes left
7 Days a week of rehearsal
6 Ethnographer band members
5 Different classes
4 Naps a day
3 Christmas shows
2 Research papers
....And a blog post filled with too much Christmas!

So lately I've been kinda busy, this weekend we had "Christmas with the Sound of Music."  A variety show of different Christmas numbers and some from the actual show.  The director basically wanted to give a little taste of whats to come in January. Also classes are finishing up (hurray!) but that means lots of unfinished paperwork...  Still I'm really excited for the holiday break.  The house and yard are completely decorated to the nines, the weather is turning chilly, and I've been listening to Christmas music nonstop.  Also you may have noticed I cut about six inches off my hair and dyed it. Just something new for the upcoming new year.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

{went to the midnight showing last night...part one equals amazing. period.}

Personally, I wish they had done every movie in two parts, or three. I would have payed for all those extra tickets just for a little extra Harry Potter.  I think I'm going to go into a serious state of depression when the movies end. I demand you go and see it, if you haven't yet!

So in completely exciting news, it looks like I will be graduating (with my Associates degree) this spring 2011! And it only took me two years!  This means so many good things, like moving on to a "real" university where they have many more choices for classes, living on my own, being that much closer to my Bachelor degree, working towards my major, finding true love, traveling the world, getting my dream job... the possibilities are endless my friends!

ps. Is anyone else absolutely delighted/hysterical/frantic/beside oneself/thrilled/fired up or even zipped up....that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (part 1) is coming to a theatre near you this Thursday at midnight??!!!  Ah I cannot contain myself! :D

The current loves of my life

Sadly I'm the type of person to laugh when I see someone fall or trip.  But luckily the only thing funnier than that, is when I fall.  Last night, after watching DWTS, and becoming overly excited.  I was practicing my sweet ballroom dance moves.  Of course, silly old me, was wearing socks and dancing on wood floors.  So in an epic attempt at a high kick, my other leg completely slips out from under me.  I come crashing to the floor landing right on my hip.  Classic.  I was probably laying on the floor for about three minutes crying from laughing so hard.  Who says I need friends or a significant other for entertainment? Besides making an ass out of myself, these are my other loves of the moment:

  • upcoming holidays
  • my abstract painting
  • banana bread
  • exploring new grains
  • fancy scarves
  • morning cup of coffee
  • the compete ignorance of my bio class
  • rehearsal
  • bored to death
  • finding my split again
  • brussel sprouts
  • wonderful fall weather
  • playing tag with my sister's kitten
  • how many times I have laughed this month due to two very specific people

Spent the day shopping around town with my parents and sister, who is home for a visit.  Added three more pairs of shoes to my already overwhelming collection. Enjoyed a delicious lunch of broccoli cheddar soup at Panera Bread.  And of course...did not slim down my ridiculous pile of homework.  Ah well, Thanksgiving break will be spent digesting textbooks as opposed to gravy and stuffing.

California

Picture overload from my trip to California.  Enjoy!

My bed companions for the week.

Pod of otters.

Rediculously long&large seaweed.

Halloween falling on three days!?

Because Halloween was on a Sunday this year, just plain old halloween turned into Halloween Weekend Hallapalooza!  After rehearsal on Thursdays (October 28th) I drove three hours to spend the night with my sister in Raleigh.  Then on Friday, after a delicious pancake breakfast, I drove the next leg, another three hour journey, to Appalachian State.  A bunch of my good friends go there, so I decided they were worth the six hour trip for a weekend visit.

My current lifestyle of up by 8:00 and in bed by 11:00, was turned upside down, as we went to a total of five parties in three nights.  I had a complete blast seeing all my friends and in all three of my costumes, Cookie Monster, Harry Potter, and a deer.  But I felt more like a granny afterwards, I definitely needed and used this week and weekend to recover.  Please enjoy the photos!

Omelety goodness.

I love the variety of an egg. So simple and so delicious. My go-to egg style is either fried over easy or poached.  But tonight I opted for an omelet, which you can add almost anything to.  I chose to make mine with shrimp, spinach, Swiss cheese, onion, and tomato. A perfect combination, if you ask me!  Now, enough about eggs! I've got homework to do!

The Hills are Alive...

Sorry fellow followers, I've been busy, lazy, and uninterested.  I love having a blog, but I never want it to feel forced.  I'll try to get back to my day-to-day blogging but for now here is a little bit of I've been up to:
  • Delightful trip to California (pictures soon)
  • Lots of homework and projects leftover from while I was in California
  • Cast as Liesl in my community theater's production of "The Sound of Music"
  • Painting a self portrait
  • Enjoying the amazing fall weather
  • ...and eating waffles

Leather Boots

navy lace tank: thrifted
silk shorts: absurfshop

While its not quite cold enough to wear boots, I figured that because it had rained all day I could get away with it.  Where is fall? My sweaters, tights, and scarves have been calling my name since the start of September.  In exciting news I'm going to California in about a week for my fall break, I'll be visiting my cousin and hopefully exploring San Francisco!

**Also, I got a 94 on my first Environmental Biology exam :D
